Bio
Lee C. Heiman is a Partner in the Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Departments of The Nath Law Group. His practice areas include the procurement, development, and transfer of patents and other Intellectual Property; providing legal opinions; and managing intellectual property portfolios for a variety of clients in the. Before specializing in Intellectual Property, Mr. Heiman gained extensive trial experience, as well as experience in the formation of corporate entities and in commercial transactions, enabling him to fully advise our clients on integrating Intellectual Property into a comprehensive business strategy.
Mr. Heiman’s practice covers the following areas:
- Patent and Trademark Strategy and Prosecution for technology for the biotechnological and chemical therapeutic, pharmaceutical, academic, and systems management communities;
- Providing legal opinions on patentability, infringement, validity, Freedom to Operate, and enforcement; and
- Licensing, Joint Ventures, Technology Transfer, Sponsored Research, and Due Diligence.
Mr. Heiman is currently serving as the Vice President for Industry Relations and as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Association of University Managers (AUTM). Mr. Heiman also serves as a member of the Steering Committee of the Licensing Executive Society (LES) Maryland Chapter, and has served as a Committee Chair for joint AUTM/LES conferences.

Peter S. Weissman

Bio
Peter S. Weissman concentrates his practice in patent and trademark procurement before patent offices in the U.S. and abroad and enforcement of those rights in the district courts. His primary focus is in the areas of the Internet, software, biomedical, information technology, RFID technology, telecommunications, and the electrical and mechanical arts. He counsels clients in a wide range of intellectual property matters including: patent procurement and strategies for start-up and established companies; patent litigation; due diligence investigations to assess the strengths and weaknesses of intellectual property during a transfer of ownership, funding, and other transitional phases; university technology transfer, licensing, and due diligence investigation; trademark procurement, licensing and portfolio management, and strategies for start-up and established companies; trade secret protection; and copyright procurement. Prior to joining Blank Rome, Mr. Weissman served as a Patent Examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Weissman is a co-founder of The George Washington University Entrepreneurs RoundTable, which is an interdisciplinary organization that brings faculty and staff, students, alumni, and university administration together to advance entrepreneurship and showcases university technologies.

Sean S. Wooden

Bio
Sean's practice focuses on advising clients on their intellectual property portfolios (including patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets) and developing, managing and exploiting these portfolios. His intellectual property experience covers a wide array of technologies and clients, ranging from individual inventors and small businesses to large multinational corporations. His portfolio exploitation experience also includes numerous licensing transactions (including corporate brand licensing), Internet agreements and a wide variety of other types of agreements. Sean's experience includes assisting clients pursue patent infringers through litigation and licensing. Likewise, his practice includes substantial patent litigation defense, defending clients against claims of infringement. He also has experience in pursuing trademark opposition matters. His litigation experience includes matters in Federal District Courts, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and before the US International Trade Commission. Sean's practice also involves the procurement of domestic and international intellectual property rights such as patents, trademarks, and trade secrets, and the rendering of opinions and advice regarding patentability, infringement and validity issues. Mr. Wooden also advises clients on various export matters, including obtaining export licenses, registration and licensing under the EAR and ITAR, and compliance with OFAC regulations. He also provides advice regarding export technology issues.
