Taxis and Red Line Metro (subway) are the best ways to get to NIH.

The NIH Campus is a secure government area and you must have picture ID (driver's license) to be admitted. Allow 10-15 minutes to clear security and reach the building.

By Plane

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)

Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI)

If you are traveling by plane and flying directly into Ronald Reagan National Airport, you can reach the venue by taxi or Metro.

If you are flying into Dulles International Airport, you can take the Washington Flyer Shuttle Bus to downtown Washington. The fee for the bus is $16 one-way and $26 round trip (cash only). Tickets can be purchased at the airport. The bus will stop at the Washington Convention Center - you can then take a taxi or Metro to the venue. You may also take a taxi directly from the airport.
